SS-10/1-10/5

Social Studies
week of Oct. 1-5
Chapter ONE- People of the Stone Age

Monday: Groups will present projects. Begin vocabulary of Chapter 1.

Tuesday: Read and discuss lesson 1 of Chapter 1: Hunters and Gathers. The focus will be the reasons early people lived and worked in groups. Textbook reference pages 51- 55. Quiz for this lesson will be on Thursday.

Wednesday: Continue to review and discuss lesson 1. The class will finish notes to study and review questions. Later, Class will complete worksheet- What’s in a Word, as it relates to lesson 1.
Williams’ class has Guidance

Thursday: Class will have a review prep for lesson 1 then take Lesson One Quiz. Afterwards, class will preview Lesson 2 with a visual framework activity. TE page 56.
Beauford’s class has Guidance

Friday: Class will begin reading and discuss lesson 2 of Chapter 1: Early Farmers. In this lesson the focus will be on the effects of change on the early people. Textbook reference pages 56 – 59.
Walker’s class has Guidance.

Weekend Homework: Begin collecting data of special events in your life from birth to present.
A Limit of 2 events per year. Record facts on a
sheet of paper.

SCI 10/1-10/5

**We got a little behind this week so some things have changed. Sorry about that.

Monday: STudents will take a test over measurement and lab tools. After test, students will begin working on chapter 2 workbook pages (9-12). These will be due October 12.

Tuesday: Students finished the measurement test. We discussed the test, the scientific method test, and the importance of checking your answers. We then finished “Airball” and “F.B.I.”

HW: Bring in pictures of animals. WB pgs 9-12 due October 12.

Wednesday: Students will complete a practice TCAP packet on Life Science.

Thursday: STudents will finish the ThinkLink activity. We will complete “Who Eats Whom?” on page 35 in the textbook. Students will compare and contrast biotic and abiotic creatures and then complete a handout called “Enlightening Environmental Information.” (s.p.i. 6.3.1)

HW: Bring in pictures of animals. WB pgs 9-12 due October 12.

Friday: Students will illustrate, color, and describe the 5 levels of environmental organization. After, students will complete the handout titled, “WHat’s What in the Ecosystem.”(s.p.i. 6.3.1)

SCI 9/24-9/28

Monday: Students will complete a few measurement activity sheets along with a sheet to review lab tools.

Tuesday: Students will review lab tools and measurement. We will finish our review of our Think Link results as our TCAP prep for this week.

Monday: Students will complete the inquiry lab called “Airball.” We will review the scientific method for the test tomorrow. (s.p.i. 6.2.0-6.3.0)

SS-9/17-9/21

**This week is GUidance. R Williams is Wednesday, Beauford is Thursday, and Walker is Friday from 2:05-2:35.
Monday: Review geographical terms through a slideshow and discuss our own meanings of the terms. This will be a review for the test tomorrow. WE also review all map skills. (6.3.1, 6.3.2)
Tuesday: Students will take the geography test. After the test, students will sort through research regarding their assigned cultural group and make a web of their group organizing the following: religion, language, traditions, government, art, literature, lifestyles, and how this group was prejudiced agains. The groups are Italians, African Americans, Jews, Irish, Iraqis, and Hispanics. (6.1.1)

Wednesday: Students will continue to work on their research. (6.1.1)

SS-9/10-9/14

Monday: Students will continue working on their geographical dictionary. (6.3.2)
Tuesday: Students will finish their geographical dictionary today or finish it for homework. It is due tomorrow. (6.3.2)
Wednesday: One more day was given to the class to work on their dictionaries. We will complete some practice TCAP questions tomorrow.
Thursday: DIctionaries are due today. We will have TCAP day today. (6.1.1)
Friday: We will go over pages 30-33 to discuss key components of history. Students will make a venn diagram of primary and secondary sources. Students will then be assigned a cultural group to research and describe an event from their history in detail to create perspective and historical empathy. (6.1.1)
