SS-2/25-2/29

Monday: students will view pictures of Roman architecture on the overhead.  STudents will apply Roman architecture to building their own Roman building with play doh and popsicle sticks.  Students will review the southern Europe countries on thatquiz.orgHW: Mythology project due Wednesday!  Tuesday:  Read pgs. 26-263.  Why was the Roman Empire able to survive long after Augustus’ death?  Pax Romana periodHW: Mythology project due Wednesday!  Wednesday: Students will compare maps on pgs. 266-267.  Students will present their mythology posters. Thursday: SpanishFriday: International Day ALL day!!!! 

SS-2/19-2/22

Monday: NO SCHOOL!! Tuesday: Read pgs. 255-260 in book.  Students will complete a handout over the Roman Government.  Students will receive a Roman mythology assignment from Mrs. Platania.   Students will also discuss Southern Europe for the geography component of this week.  If time prevails, we will read about Pompeii.Wednesday: Read pg. 279 and do a worksheet on telescoping time line.   After we will begin watching a video on Rome.Thursday: Students will fill in a sheet that follows the video.  We will discuss it and highlight key points and events.  We will then move on to discuss Roman mythology and begin reading about famous Roman myths.Friday: Guidance from 2:05-2:35.  Students will take a quiz over Southern Europe.  Students will also compare historical maps on pgs. 266-267 in book. 

SCI-2/19-2/22

Monday: NO SCHOOL!!!  President’s Day!Tuesday: Students will identify the inner planets and their characteristics.  Students will work in stations (toilet paper solar system and people books) 6.7.1, 6.7.3HW: Read pages 238-242Wednesday: STudents will identify the outer planets and their characteristics.  Students will continue in their stations from yesterday. 6.7.1, 6.7.3HW: Read pages 243-247Thursday: Students will discuss the phases of the moon and the types of eclipses.  The students will then rotate to 3 different stations to demonstrate the eclipses, moon phases, and Aristotle people book. 6.7.2, 6.7.5Friday: Students will play “Guess the Astronomer.”  All work will be turned in from the stations.  A content quiz will be given from ThinkLink questions.  6.7.9

SCI-3/10-3/14

Monday: We will discuss how energy is converted from one form to another.  We will then identify different energy conversions on a handout for practice.  We will also show how heat is transferred from one object to another.  Tuesday: We will discuss the law of conservation of energy, law of thermodynamics, changes of state  and perpetual motion.   Students will compose examples to demonstrate each concept.   Wednesday: We will review Energy, heat, parts of a wave, and other concepts from chapter 12 and some of chapter 13.  TEST TOMORROW!Thursday: Students will take the test over chapter 12 components and parts of chapter 13.Friday: STudents will take the 3rd ThinkLink test.  When done, they will practice on Study Island. 

SCI-3/3-3/7

Monday: Students will watch the Brainpop videos on different planets.  We will compare and contrast the planets in a discussion.  When done, students will simulate the sun, Earth, and moon for revolution, rotation, year, month, day, moon phases, tides, eclipses, and seasons.Tuesday: We will review ch. 9.  Test will be tomorrow!Wednesday: Take chapter 9 test.  After the test, students will draw and label parts of a wave.  Students will then work on homework: workbook pages 94-104.  This will be due Wednesday, March 12.Thursday: We will discuss potential and kinetic energy, thermal energy, sound energy, chemical energy, electrical energy, light energy, and nuclear energy.  Students will compose an example of each one.  HW: workbook pages 94-104 due Wednesday, March 12. Friday: We will use a motion sensor to graph potential and kinetic energy of different objects. HW: workbook pages 94-104 due Wednesday, March 12. 

SCI-2/25-2/29

Monday: We will begin disucssing the planets and their characteristics.  Students will complete a handout on the solar system for a grade. (6.7.1)Tuesday: We will use Tootsie Roll Pops to model the phases of the moon. We will discuss the specific tides that occur in the main moon phases. (6.7.1, 6.7.8)HW: Study eclipses and moon phases for quiz on Thursday. Wednesday: We will finish the Tootsie Roll Pop lab.  The second part of the class will be for eclipses.  We will discuss the different types of eclipses and then do a short lab to model the eclipses. (6.7.3)HW: Study eclipses and moon phases for quiz on Thursday.  Thursday: We will review moon phases and eclipses.  Students will then take a quiz over the moon phases and eclipses.Friday: We will discuss the 4 seasons.  Students will then illustrate the position of the sun and Earth for each season with a picture symbolizing each season and a description of why Earth is experiencing that season. (6.14.1, 6.7.4)

Monday: Students will read pages 62-64 in the TCAP COACH books.  Students will answer the response question on page 64.  HW: Test Thursday on the countries of  Central America, South America, continents and oceans, types of government, hunters and gatherers, trade routes, cultural diffusion, natural resourcesQuiz Friday on countries of North Africa. Tuesday:  Discuss weeks 1 and 2 from the newspapers.  When done, begin weeks 3 and 4.HW: Test Friday on the countries of  North Africa, Central America, South America, continents and oceans, types of government, hunters and gatherers, trade routes, cultural diffusion, natural resourcesWednesday:  Students will review for test on Thursday.HW: Test Friday on the countries of  North Africa, Central America, South America, continents and oceans, types of government, hunters and gatherers, trade routes, cultural diffusion, natural resources  Thursday: Students will participate in Spanish.HW: Test Friday on the countries of  North Africa, Central America, South America, continents and oceans, types of government, hunters and gatherers, trade routes, cultural diffusion, natural resources  Friday: Students will take the test on economics skills and geography.  After test they will finish working weeks 3 and 4 from the newspapers.

SS-2/4-2/8

Monday:Students will complete weeks 1 and 2 in the Social Studies’ newspapers covering Ancient Mesopotamia.  We will discuss and answer questions to review.Tuesday: Students will complete weeks 3 and 4 in the newspapers.  We will discuss and answer questions.Wednesday: Students will complete the Economics practice section in the Coach booklets.  We will check, review, and discuss in class.  Thursday: Students will take a test over the Economics section of the Coach booklets.  When done we will begin the Roman Empire.  Friday: Guidance scheduled from 2:05-2:35.
